Is it what, that it isWhat is it, that you want? September 27 The Final Verse 2005It doesn’t matter who scored first, Or even who scored last, To play 120 minutes, Is a mighty awesome task.
To play the complete season, That is even greater so, Continually beating dice, To live for one more throw.
The ‘weagles’ went and lead it out, For most of the first quarter, But swans chose to fly higher, Turning weagle wings to water.
A second quarter stoush did show The anger brew a plenty And coming to the major break, The bloods were up by 20.
Big brother, he was watching, As the crowds milled at half time, And ‘Hotdogs’ he was hiding, Like he’d just pulled off a crime.
Third quarter getting edgy, As the gap begins to close, A game filled with excitement, With its constant ebbs and flows.
A miracle was brewing, As the big game did unfold, With the mark that broke the drought, The greatest story ever told.
Another season over, Preparations soon beginning, And which team I do wonder, In their eyes, the prize, are winning. September 05 The Beauty of Science
Science has taught us many things. It has also given us many abilities. I had a moment today when I considered a science lesson I had maybe 12 years ago. It was about Newtonian Relativity. This can be described as a way of measuring the movement of one object relative to that of another. This may seem strange, but it’s a concept we can observe every single day of our lives. We start our lives in one huge box. We are all kids. So we play like kids, with other kids, and do kid stuff. Then we separate into the sporty kids, or the cool kids, or the smart kids. Anyway, you catch my drift. All the while, we cut smaller and smaller boxes for our groupings. Then we become adults. We get jobs, places to live, loving partners (hopefully), and the boxes keep shrinking, because we don’t have time for big, lunky boxes filled with people we never see. Soon we are so short on time, that we don’t even have any for our family and friends, who we now can’t relate to anyway. And our box is so tiny and so mistreated that we can’t find a place in it anymore. This ideal destroys who we are and what we need to keep going. It is also because we are so defined that we can’t relate to anyone, about ourselves or our loved ones. Or the good friends we saw everyday and now don’t see even once a year. This can cause anything from manic depression to midlife crises. From a rough up in a bar, to a rootin’ tootin’ guns-a-shootin’ war. Is this because we don’t make an effort to relate to or understand anyone else? That’s their job, right! Well, you may say I’m wrong and ignore this. And you might have every right to. But if we can’t relate to, understand and respect our fellow man and the environment in which we live, then maybe it’s a good idea we can’t travel into space. Because then we would only have someone/thing else to be pissed off with. July 20 The PicsSimply put, there's two of me and two of my favourite places. The beach is at Coogee, where I finished off the 90's(the building at the south end). The buildings are a look up from George St, City, on a great day. I love the city because it means a sense of freedom. You can get whatever you want, and exerience the good things in life in many different ways (depending on whether you're by the harbour or shopping or at the park). So there it is, more later...M July 05 Just Me!This is my 1st blog. No knowing how it is, so here goes.
I love lots of different stuff, but my favourites are music and cooking.
Cooking is so satisfying, because you are sure it is done perfectly if you do it yourself!
Music is quite different. I can like any style that comes around, and like something so dissimilar in five minutes time. For example, I made a mix cd yesterday with Beck, Steve Poltz, Beastie Boys, Rookie Card, Fountains of Wayne, Audioslave and the Posies(to name a few)! No two alike, but lots of fun. These are all great artist and only two have I not seen. Top of the list is the Posies (6 shows) and the Beastie Boys (2 shows and a festival headline).
Travel is also high on my list. I get out of Sydney as much as possible, although it's not really that bad, and typically do the north coast or Melbourne. I have been overseas (and I really love San Fran and Seattle) but it's so long ago, it really doesn't matter.
I also love films(and comedy mostly). My top 5 are Grosse Pointe Blank, Four Rooms, Blues Brothers, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and DIG (despite the fact it wasn't quite fair).
I hope that someone thinks my fun list is cool and writes back.
Round, Matty. |
